The Department of Education and Children’s
Services (DECS) employs Hearing Impairment Coordinators,
who are qualified teachers of the deaf, to provide
consultancy services to children with a hearing
impairment enrolled in DECS schools. These teachers
are based in a district office and they provide
a visiting teacher service to all schools and
