Early intervention services in the Northern Territory

The Northern Territory has very low population levels and the incidence of severe profound hearing loss is also low.
Programs are mainly individual and based round home support and parent knowledge and skills.
Currently there is only a very small number of children under 4 yrs identified and each is living in remote indigenous communities.

Services are provided to all children with hearing loss either through visiting advisory support or, in Palmerston, Darwin, and Alice Springs by regularly timetabled support, which may be on a daily basis.
